She stepped along the shore
Her toes buried into the sand,
But she wanted more.
He reached out and gave her his hand
Never would she had guessed that he’d show her this world.
Walking into the water,
Cold.
Mermaids,
Mermen…
This whimsical serenity.
Deeper she swam.
He gave her the power to breathe.
Further into the ocean they went.
Gills? Is this the new feeling she felt in her throat.
Was she becoming a part of his world?
Mermaids,
Mermen…
This whimsical serenity.Deeper she swam.
The deep blue darkened.
The coral brushed against her delicate skin.
Cuts, they bled.
She felt the pain that came with this hit.
He held her close and sang a beautiful song.
The scars would fade, she thought.
Mermaids,
Mermen…
This whimsical serenity.
She settled along the bottom of the sea.
Her toes buried into the sand,
but she wanted more.
He let go of her hand.
Never would she have guessed he’d leave her at the bottom of the ocean.
Mermaids,
Mermen…
This whimsical serenity.
Gone.
Gills? Gone.
His hand? Gone.
The ocean filled her lungs.
Drowning…
at the bottom of the ocean.
